British public want Gandalf and Will Smith to be their school physics teachers

British public want Gandalf and Will Smith to be their school physics teachers: "If the British public could have chosen their ideal school physics teacher, it would have been Gandalf (from Lord of the Rings) or Will Smith (Men in Black, and I, Robot) according to an independent survey released today to mark the launch of a nationwide search to try and find Britain's best physics teachers.

The celebrity survey was commissioned by the Institute of Physics to try and find out what the 'X-Factor' for a physics teacher would be - what star qualities a physics teacher needs to have to keep students interested and excited by the subject.

The Institute of Physics wants pupils, parents, and fellow teachers to nominate their physics teacher if they are someone who succeeds in making this sometimes tricky subject exciting and inspiring. Information on where to send your nomination can be found at The IOP's website "
